Global Mission Projects: Church of the Good Shepherd, Sault Ste Marie, ON
- Rev. Richard White
We are pleased to tell you that missions has been very much in the sights of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Sault Ste Marie.
In terms of the monetary support for out of Canada missions:
We began sending money to Dr. Stephen Foster in Angola via S.I.M. Canada (Sending in Mission) in October of 2020.
We have also sent money to the Ghent family of OMF International.
In August 2020 when Lebanon had the explosion, we sent money to the Barakats, who are missionaries in Lebanon.
In terms of our own members and out of Canada missions:
In March 2019 Gordon and Melissa Wong did a two week dental mission to Dominican Republic with HTI (Health Teams International Canada). Gordon then also did a three week Dental surgical mission in March 2020, to Lubango, Angola to work at CEML Hospital with Dr. Stephen Foster, under SIM Canada.
From January to March of 2020, Joy Hill, one of our members, served on the Logos – an O.M. ship. Her anticipated several-year term was shortened in large part by Covid-19… crew members were asked to go home.
I was in Maadi, Cairo, Egypt from January 2019 to 2020 doing a locum in a mixed ethnic and cultural Anglican congregation, St John the Baptist. It was an exhilarating experience. My ANiC home, The Church of the Good Shepherd covered me with prayer throughout that time, and we were in frequent contact via Skype, even Skyping in the occasional Sunday sermon!
